Maithean Performs SET Transactions Using SignaSURE™ Smartcards
Promise Of SET Conference - SAN FRANCISCO, CA - July 18, 1997. Maithean announced today the availability of the NetPay Payment System™ with the Datakey SignaSURE smartcard system. Maithean has integrated the Datakey SignaSURE CIP smartcard system into the NetPay Payment System. NetPay™ can use SignaSURE tokens for both the secure transport and storage of SET certificates and associated keys as well as the secure generation of the SET key pairs and signatures. NetPay is the first SET payment system to fully integrate SET with smartcards. The NetPay Payment System with the SignaSURE CIP system is being demonstrated at the Promise of SET Conference.
NetPay is a secure electronic commerce system for consumer-to-business and business-to-business transactions. The system supports SET, the Secure Electronic Transaction protocol defined by VISAŽ and MasterCardŽ as well as non-SET based secure credit card transactions; electronic bill presentment, payment and management; home banking; and EDI. NetPay consists of the NetPay Wallet™, an electronic wallet application for consumers; the NetPay Merchant™, a client-server based payment management system for merchants; and the NetPay Gateway™, a client-server based payment system interface for credit card processors. NetPay servers support a variety of cryptographic hardware products for enhanced security and performance. NetPay clients support a variety of public key based hardware token systems for enhanced security, portability, and ease of use and management.
SignaSURE CIP is a Cryptoki based public key smartcard token system that enables user identification and authentication, secure information storage and exchange, and information validation. Through the integration with NetPay, the system provides for on token storage of SET and other X.509 certificates and associated encryption and signature key pairs. The key pairs can be generated directly on the token or generated by NetPay and directly transferred to the token without interim disk storage. NetPay integrated with the SignaSURE product provides a higher level of system and data security than software-only SET systems. The SignaSURE product consists of a hardware token, a reader/writer that connects to a computer's serial port, and Cryptoki PKCS #11 compliant interface software. The hardware and interface software is developed, manufactured and supported by Datakey thus providing easy, one-stop shopping and insurance of compatibility.
