Maithean and Litronic, Inc. are creating a new generation of security solutions for the financial and enterprise communities that bring industry standard smartcard cryptography to electronic commerce and Secure Electronic Transaction (SET). These solutions provide consumers, businesses and financial institutions unprecedented security, portability and convenience.
The two companies are creating these new solutions by integrating Maithean's products for consumer-to-business and business-to-business secure electronic commerce with Litronic's advanced smartcard technology. The combined technologies will converge in a single system that will allow consumers, businesses, and financial institutions as well as corporate IS departments to quickly and efficiently deploy secure electronic commerce applications. With the integration of authenticated single user logon smartcard capability and secure electronic commerce applications, consumers, businesses and financial institutions can now securely process payments, receive and manage bills, and manage accounts over the Internet.
In the first installment of this technology, Maithean and Litronic have integrated the NetPay Payment System with the Litronic Smartcard Platform for SET based payments. NetPay™ can use Litronic Smartcard products for the secure transport and storage of SET certificates and associated keys, as well as the secure generation of the SET key pairs and signatures. The integrated system provides for on token storage of SET and other X.509 certificates and associated encryption and signature key pairs. The key pairs can be generated directly on the token or generated by NetPay and directly transferred to the token without interim disk storage. NetPay also uses the Litronic smartcard products to provide authenticated login and role based access control within the client applications of the NetPay MerchantTM and the NetPay GatewayTM. This product is being demonstrated at the Promise Of SET Conference.

Users of this next generation online payment processing system will prove their identities using Litronic's multi-application enabled smartcard which includes NetSign, CryptOS, and the Litronic Security Management Center (SMC). Once authenticated, users can access the secure electronic commerce applications provided by NetPay. Users benefit from the convenience, portability and ease of use features offered by Litronic's plug-and-play smartcard platform.
NetPay applications transparently process online financial transactions such as credit card payment, bill presentment, electronic check, home banking and customer account management using Litronic's smartcard products. Litronic's smartcard solutions are unique because they support Java, c, and Active-X along with online X.509v3 smartcard certificate generation within an open multi-card, multi-reader, and multi-platform development environment.
